This Is Who I Am
- I am a fifth generation native of Buncombe County
- Born, raised, educated, and spent my entire working career in Buncombe County
-
My family has been very involved in politics in Buncombe County (Daddy rode a motorcycle as rural deputy with the Buncombe County Sheriff's Dept. as a young man and later became the Assistant Superintendent for the Buncombe County schools; my mother was a social worker with Buncombe County Welfare Dept. (now the Dept. of Social Services); my uncle, Weldon Weir, was Asheville's city manager; my uncle, Harry Nettles, was a member of North Carolina House of Representatives and his brother, Zeb Nettles, was a Buncombe County District Court judge.
And this tradition continues today:
- My husband, Bruce recently retired as the District Director for Congressman Heath Shuler.
- My nephew Steven Sizemore is a former treasurer for the Buncombe County Democratic Party and serves as the elected representative for the T.C. Roberson School District on the Buncombe County Schools Board of Education.
- Steven's wife, Jill, is the granddaughter of two former Asheville City Council members - Cal Marshall and "Red" Hoyle.
